At least 15 people were killed and dozens more were wounded on Friday when Russian drones struck a shopping center in Kryvyi Rih, a city in central Ukraine, according to Ukrainian authorities. Oleksandr Hanzha, who heads the regional military administration, later said 130 people were injured, including 23 children.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, whose hometown is Kryvyi Rih, described the strike as a "double tap" attack, saying a first wave of drones hit the area and a second wave followed as rescuers arrived. He called such attacks acts of terrorism and said Ukraine would respond.
Ukrainian officials said the shopping center attack was part of a wider day of strikes that also included separate Russian attacks in the Mykolaiv and Kharkiv regions. Those attacks brought the reported death toll across Ukraine on Friday to 21.
Officials also said two women were killed in a drone strike in Kharkiv region, and four people, including three children, were killed in Mykolaiv region. The Russian attacks came one day after a major overnight strike on Kyiv that killed 16 people.
