The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that there are 55 cases across the country, with four individuals hospitalized. The majority of cases have been documented in Minnesota and Wisconsin, where more than three dozen cases have been identified.
Among the 34 sick individuals interviewed, 26 reported consuming alfalfa sprouts. Officials are connecting the outbreak to alfalfa sprouts produced by Everything Sprouts, a grower based in Minnesota, which are sold under the Calco and Everything Sprouts brands. As of now, the company has not issued a recall, according to the FDA.
