A Honduran deportee on the flight reported that the group refused to disembark, stating that Liberia was not their country and that they would face danger there. After refusing to leave the plane, they were separated from the other passengers who disembarked out of fear of being forced off.
According to immigration advocates, the deportees were told they would be returned to the United States but were instead flown to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea. Reports indicate that some of the deportees arrived in chains and in distress, with concerns raised about the lack of medical staff at the facility where they are being held.
