Los Angeles Dodgers president Stan Kasten moved to dismiss speculation that the franchise could be sold after owner Mark Walter agreed to sell the Los Angeles Lakers for a reported record price of $12.5 billion. Speaking before Friday's game against Pittsburgh, Kasten said there is no sale process underway and the Dodgers are not for sale.
Kasten said Walter remains deeply committed to the Dodgers, noting that the Lakers transaction was an extraordinary opportunity that Walter chose to take. Walter bought a controlling stake in the Dodgers from the Buss family last year.
Kasten also addressed reports that Walter's business empire is under scrutiny in federal and SEC investigations, saying he knows of no involvement by the Dodgers. Walter, who is based in Chicago and leads Guggenheim Partners, has overseen three World Series titles in six seasons and has backed major player contracts, including Shohei Ohtani's.
