Barksdale was informed in September that a DNA analysis revealed the tissue sample showing an aggressive form of endometrial cancer belonged to a different patient. She had initially sought treatment for heavy bleeding and fibroids at Kaiser Permanente Southwood Medical Center in early 2025, and lived for months believing she had cancer, which caused significant emotional distress for her and her family.
