President Donald Trump was sued in federal court in New York over a new paid service tied to Truth Social that gives paying customers early access to his posts on U.S. policy. The service, called Truth API, reportedly charges Wall Street firms as much as $100,000 a month for access that arrives milliseconds ahead of others. The lawsuit asks a court to order Trump Media to shut down the paid service and also to stop Trump from posting official government information exclusively on his own site.
Truth Social’s parent company, Trump Media & Technology, rejected the claims and said similar fast-access tools are common in the industry. It said the lawsuit is an attempt to censor Trump and harm shareholders. Trump is the company’s largest shareholder, holding more than 40% through a trust.
The case comes as Trump Media continues to report large quarterly losses and its stock has fallen sharply from its level soon after going public. For markets, the immediate effect is likely negative for Trump Media shares, while the broader impact on stocks, crypto, gold or foreign exchange appears limited and neutral based on the reporting.
