Hull City opened its Premier League return with a 2-0 home victory over Manchester United in Kingston upon Hull on Saturday. The result came after Hull had won promotion through the Championship playoffs at the end of last season.
Both of Hull's goals came in the first half from set pieces, with Semi Ajayi and Nobel Mendy finishing the chances. The win gave Hull an early boost in its bid to avoid relegation, while United failed to make much of an impression.
Manchester United entered the season with renewed expectations after finishing third last year and adding Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos to midfield. Marcus Rashford, back from a loan spell at Barcelona, came off the bench at halftime, but United still struggled throughout the match.
