A report from Public Citizen says Donald Trump’s second White House stands out for the number of ultra-wealthy people he has brought into government. The group said Trump has appointed more officials worth at least $100 million than the three previous presidents combined.
According to the report, 57 Trump officials fall into that category. That total includes 17 ambassadors and 40 senior posts across the executive branch.
The Cabinet alone accounts for eight people on the list, out of 23 members. Among the best-known examples are Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Education Secretary Linda McMahon, both billionaires.
Trump has said his approach reflects respect for financial success. The report also notes that he is doing so while facing voters who are less satisfied with his handling of the economy.
