Robinhood Crypto's General Manager Johann Kerbrat announced that Robinhood Stock Tokens have achieved total value locked exceeding $170 million, while DEX trading volume on Robinhood Chain approaches $50 billion. Each Stock Token maintains a 1:1 backing by real stocks held in secure custody, ensuring holders receive economic equivalents of dividends and corporate actions, which are automatically reinvested.
The token issuance mechanism ensures full collateralization: when a new Stock Token is minted, Robinhood simultaneously purchases one share of the underlying real stock. This structure provides direct exposure to equity assets on a blockchain infrastructure.
Currently, physical redemption and voting rights are not yet available features. However, Robinhood has included both 1:1 stock redemption and voting capabilities for qualified holders on its development roadmap, indicating plans to expand functionality. The Stock Tokens are architected with composability in mind, enabling developers to build additional applications and services on top of the token infrastructure.
