A recent Gallup survey conducted in partnership with Edward Jones revealed that while some U.S. adults are utilizing artificial intelligence for financial guidance, it remains one of the least trusted sources of advice. Approximately 20% of Americans who sought financial advice in the past year reported using AI, yet only 30% expressed a significant level of confidence in its financial expertise, with merely 3% trusting it 'a great deal.'
The survey indicated a notable gap between the resources Americans trust for financial advice and those they actually use. While 80% of U.S. adults have some confidence in financial advisers, only about one-third of those seeking advice consulted a professional, with a significant 73% relying on their own internet research.
Younger adults, particularly Gen Z and millennials, are more inclined to turn to AI for financial advice, often due to the affordability of online resources compared to hiring a professional adviser. In contrast, older generations tend to rely more on traditional financial advisers for guidance.
