Approximately 20% of Americans who sought financial advice in the past year turned to AI, yet only about 30% of U.S. adults expressed a significant level of confidence in AI's financial expertise.
The survey found a notable disparity between the sources of financial advice that Americans trust and those they actually utilize. While 80% of U.S. adults have some confidence in financial advisers, only about one-third of those seeking advice consulted a professional, with 73% relying on their own internet research.
Younger generations, particularly Gen Z and millennials, are more inclined to use AI for financial advice, with 25% of Gen Z and 21% of millennials having done so in the past year. In contrast, only 7% of baby boomers reported using AI for financial guidance. Financial experts advise caution when relying solely on AI, emphasizing the importance of combining AI insights with information from trusted sources.
