A set of unique, extremely rare Super Mario cartridges was found in a gaming store in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and will be auctioned off starting Friday.
The discovery was made by OneStopWonders store owner Kevin Braun and Nintendo Wire publisher Jason Ganos, who found 97 pristine copies of Super Mario Brothers Duck Hunt, a popular game released in 1988.
Ganos noted that the cartridges represent a new variant of the game and the last known production date. He expressed amazement at the find, describing it as akin to discovering a 'Holy Grail.'
The auction for most of the cartridges will run until September 9.
