Mercedes’ Andrea Kimi Antonelli set the pace when Formula One returned from its mid-season break at Zandvoort. In the only practice session for the Dutch Grand Prix, he was quickest on a track that started wet and gradually dried out after rain.
Antonelli’s lap put him 0.121 seconds ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris. Mercedes teammate George Russell was third, while Ferrari drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc followed in fourth and fifth.
Max Verstappen, whose Red Bull contract was confirmed through 2030 a day earlier, was 11th after going through the gravel while reporting handling problems. The Dutch Grand Prix is also approaching its final appearance on the F1 calendar, with organizers having already said the race will not continue beyond this year.
