Israel signed a multibillion-dollar deal on Monday to build an air defense shield in Greece, strengthening the alliance between the two countries amid shared concerns about regional rival Turkey.
The 3 billion euro (about $3.5 billion) deal for the new system, named Achilles Shield, is the largest between Israel and Greece and one of the largest military deals ever for Israel.
The agreement includes multiple Israeli systems such as David Sling and SPYDER, as well as a new national command and control system, marking the first time Israel will provide a complete array of defense weapons against a range of threats.
This deal comes as Israeli weapons exports have reached record highs, with more than $19 billion last year, reflecting a 30% increase from the previous year.
