Madonna leads the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards nominations with 11, according to the network’s announcement on Tuesday. The pop star has been nominated in every decade of her career and has 19 competitive VMA wins. She is also seeking another major milestone, since a sweep would move her into a tie with Beyoncé and Taylor Swift for the most VMA wins overall.
Swift is second with nine nominations and could become the most-awarded artist in VMA history if she wins even once. Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter each have seven nominations, followed by Bruno Mars, PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson with five apiece. Other nominees include BLACKPINK’s LISA, Shakira, Tate McRae, GENER8ION and Yung Lean.
The show’s top prize, video of the year, features Swift, Madonna, Grande, Mars, Carpenter and GENER8ION. CBS will broadcast the two-hour ceremony live on Sept. 27 from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with a simulcast on MTV and streaming on Paramount+ in the U.S. Fan voting began Tuesday in 13 categories and runs through Sept. 25, while voting for best new artist stays open during the show.
