Prosecutors are currently investigating whether he received financial benefits from exchange executives.
Piesiewicz has denied the allegations, stating that he purchased a watch with his own funds and that Zondacrypto CEO Przemysław Kral only assisted in arranging the purchase. The watch is expected to be part of the ongoing investigation.
Poland’s Minister of Justice and Prosecutor General Waldemar Żurek confirmed the arrest and indicated that further information will be released after questioning is completed. Prosecutors have not yet formally announced specific charges against Piesiewicz.
Zondacrypto, which became the general sponsor of the Polish Olympic Committee last October, is also facing broader investigations for fraud and money laundering, with user losses estimated to be significant. Authorities have received thousands of complaints related to the exchange's operations.
