The recall was initiated after Coast Citrus Distributors announced a voluntary recall of fresh jalapenos due to potential salmonella contamination. The FDA and CDC are collaborating with state and local partners to investigate illnesses associated with this multistate salmonella outbreak, which has been linked to fresh jalapenos supplied by Coast Citrus Distributors.
Taylor Fresh Foods has identified a grower in Sinaloa, Mexico, as the potential source of the outbreak and has ceased sourcing products from this supplier, opting instead for alternative suppliers. Currently, the company is not aware of any reported illnesses connected to its jalapeno products.
