Hong Kong SFC Lists Star Bridge Capital as Unlicensed; London Gold Liquidation Funds Deposited via USDT May Be Difficult to Recover

- The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission has listed Star Bridge Capital and five related entities as unlicensed companies prohibited from engaging in regulated activities in Hong Kong or promoting services to Hong Kong residents.
- Star Bridge Capital experienced an abnormal liquidation incident involving London gold trading, after which its Hong Kong office was found to be empty.
- Some investor funds in the incident were deposited via USDT stablecoin, complicating fund tracing efforts.
- Hong Kong police have accepted the case and provisionally classified it as fraud, with no arrests made yet.
The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission has designated Star Bridge Capital, Star Bridge Capital Group, SBCFX, and three other related entities as unlicensed companies barred from conducting any regulated activities in Hong Kong or actively marketing their services to Hong Kong residents, whether domestically or internationally.
The action follows an abnormal liquidation incident involving London gold trading on Star Bridge Capital's platform. Following the incident, the company's Hong Kong office was discovered to be vacant. The incident has been reported to Hong Kong police, who have classified it as a fraud case, though no arrests have been made to date.
A complicating factor in the investigation is that some of the affected investor funds were deposited through USDT stablecoin transfers, which makes tracing and recovery of the funds significantly more difficult compared to traditional banking channels.
