Joey Logano won the Cook Out 400 at Richmond Raceway after holding off a late challenge from Chase Briscoe. He finished 0.392 seconds ahead of Briscoe and claimed his 39th career Cup Series victory.
The win was Logano’s third at Richmond and his first there in nine years. It also extended his recent surge, with two victories in his last four races after having only one win in his previous 56 starts. He moved up to ninth in the standings with two races left before the playoff field is set.
Briscoe controlled much of the race, leading a race-high 171 of 400 laps. He started second, passed pole-sitter Ryan Blaney on the opening lap, and later said Richmond had been a difficult track for him.
A late strategy call from crew chief Paul Wolfe helped Logano regain the lead in the closing stage. Christopher Bell also briefly factored into the finish while trying to stretch his tires, but Logano pulled away to secure the win.
