Taylor Fresh Foods, the parent company of Taylor Farms, is voluntarily recalling certain jalapeno products over concerns of possible salmonella contamination. This action follows a recent recall of iceberg lettuce sourced from central Mexico, which was linked to a multistate cyclospora outbreak affecting individuals across the United States.
The recalled products include prepared foods such as guacamole, pico de gallo, and taco dip, with 'Best If Used By' dates extending to August 16, 2026. These items were distributed in multiple states and sold at various retailers, including Kroger, Stop & Shop, Target, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, and Walmart.
The company stated that the recall was initiated after Coast Citrus Distributors voluntarily recalled fresh jalapeños due to potential salmonella contamination. The FDA and CDC are collaborating with state and local health authorities to investigate reported illnesses linked to the outbreak, which has been traced back to a grower in Sinaloa, Mexico.
Taylor Fresh Foods has ceased sourcing products from the identified grower and will be obtaining supplies from alternative sources. Currently, the company is not aware of any illnesses associated with its jalapeño-containing products. Consumers are advised to discard any recalled items and can obtain refunds at the point of purchase.
